Hurrah for Coach Watson! (Or is it Santa..?)

There are a lot of clubs at Chandos but little did we know that one of the coaches had another job! Here he is giving a gift from City of Birmingham Basketball Club to Mr Ricketts for the children who went to his club this year. Thanks Coach Watson!

Fundraising for Chandos!

We have a link with St-Phillips Chambers in the city centre. They are a chambers for barristers and lawyers who come to our school on Friday to support children in their classes. This year they decided to raise money for our school and after a quiz night ( which they won! ) and running a half marathon , they managed to raise nearly £650 for us! We have used this money to buy new digital cameras so pupils are able to use them as part of their learning ( we now have a class set of cameras) and adults as part of their teaching. Of course

this also means we can put more pictures on here! Can I remind you , if you wish your child to be included in blog posts the teacher has to have your written permission. If you see the teacher they will have a form you can quickly sign.

Year 2: Work! Work! Work!

Year 2 have been really busy! Here are some examples of their superb work. In science they have looked at light sources; in RE they made Divas for Divali; they also made beautiful sparkly pictures of fireworks for Bonfire Night!

Year 1 Art: Mondrian

Year one have been studying the art of Mondrian. Look at their brilliant pictures.

Year 5 Art: Lowry

In 5C we have made these fantastic 3D paintings based on the work of the artist L.S. Lowry.

Year 3 Literacy: Myths & Legends

In Year 3 we have taken inspiration from well known myths to create our own myth. Then we turned our story into a cartoon. We hope to give our booklet to year five as a special suprise!

Year 6 Japan Topic

'Konichiwa!' (That's 'Hello in Japanese')

Year 6 have recently completed a topic on Japan. They have studied the culture, art and history of this fascinating country. The photos below show some of the children's manga drawings; their names in Japanese Katakana; their haiku poems; their interpretations of the famous Japanese painting The Great Wave; and an example of an original yokai - Japanese folk story monster. 6P also did a fantastic Japanese assembly and learned how to count to twenty (ichi, ni...) and the words to Mary had a Little Lamb!
